The games have until now been victims of poor timing. now that it has, my only real complaint is that SEGA waited until the very final chapter of the saga to make their first localization effort.

#BEST TEAM IN 7TH DRAGON CODE SERIES#

I've been waiting seven years for the 7th Dragon series to finally make its way to the U.S. Some content, such as this article, has been migrated to VG247 for posterity after USgamer's closure - but it has not been edited or further vetted by the VG247 team. Anyways that's all for now - buy this great 30-35 hour excellent RPG game (ranks in my top 10 rpgs of the generation) if you have the chance and play the demo if you're simply interested you won't regret it! Gameplay: 10/10 Story: 8/10 Music: 9.5/10 Presentation: 9.5/10 Length: 8.5/10 Overall: 9.This article first appeared on USgamer, a partner publication of VG247.

Go buy the soundtrack if you like the music - it contains 3 discs of great music. The atmospheric dungeon themes across all three time zones to the intense electronic battle themes and great orchestral big boss battle themes are great, and the pop songs are actually very good and catchy too (Chronicles Seven, Re: Vanishment, etc.). Also a special shoutout to Yuzo's music - it's simply fantastic. The art is also wonderful - feast your eyes on great models, animations for attacks, portraits, and everything else. I could go on and on, but I'll keep things simple for you - there are nearly no limits for your team, and the strategies you form with your teams will be pivotal in your battle against the formidable dragons that await you. From bomb control to hacking, sheathed and unsheathed sword usage to God Depth to veils and monster summoning, the limits are endless for your perfect formation of three to use for battle - but wait, you'll be able to make more than one team as the story progresses and that opens up another level of god depth (no pun intendid) to your team as you have another team support you every once and a while whether it be enemy buff-breaking or self-buffing for your primary team. Basically, you start with four classes and end with eight, and each one plays extremely differently (truly different classes). I highly recommend this title as it weaves excellent electronic music from the legendary Yuzo Koshiro (Etrian Odyssey, Streets of Rage) and has a decent story with absolutely excellent gameplay and customization.

This is one of the finest RPGs I've played, and that's saying something given how much I love the genre.ģ4h 43m Played(Final Score: 9.5) An excellent final 7th Dragon game from Sega (yeah, the other three weren't localized) that wraps a lot up and still leaves you (postgame) wondering if another one will come in the far future. Overall, 7th Dragon III may be on the generic side, but it's a pure JRPG at its heart and it does it very well. But to be fair, they do have quite a variety of Dragons, and using your best methods to take them down is always so satisfying. Mages are also pretty badass, sporting powerful magic spells that can hit one or all, protect themselves from taking any damage whilst supporting Allies with Magical Shields and are even the Best Healers in the game! Admittedly, it does get a bit redundant fighting Dragons after a while. My personal favourite are the Agents, who can hack enemies to lower their stats AND do damage, and can also Hide and use Bush Trap to counter EVERY move the enemy does, even if they miss! This is especially useful against Dragons and Bosses who attack twice per turn. Most of the classes are very balanced and each have their own Strengths and Weaknesses that cater to whatever playstyle you have. I highly appreciate details like these and it makes me wonder why other RPGs can't do the same thing. And with New Recruits, they do level up very quickly, and can even earn MAX EXP when dead or being put in a 2nd or 3rd Team to just sit back and offer support.

With random encounters, you at least get a Signal when you are getting closer to an Enemy Battle. But even elements like these 7th Dragon III compensates for. This game houses some retro RPG mechanics that I personally can't stand, such as random encounters or New Ally Recruits starting at LV1. 7th Dragon III always manages to give you plenty to keep the pace going. There was never a moment where I was getting too bored or too overwhelmed by the amount of things to do. It may not blow anyone away with its story, but its gameplay is incredibly balanced and perfectly challenged. But I'm glad they did, because 7th Dragon III is an excellent RPG, and shows what we Westies have been missing out on. 39h 54m Played It's strange how Sega decided to release the 3rd game in a Japanese-exclusive series internationally.
